Professors Volker Heussler and Rays Jiang visit Stockholm!

We have been very lucky to receive the visits of Professors Volker Heussler and Rays Jiang over the last week at MBW!

Professor Volker Heussler is the director of the Cell Biology Institute at the University of Bern, and leads a research group which focuses on studying the development ofPlasmodium parasites within hepatocytes. In particular, his group looks at whether autophagy plays a role in liver stage parasite development.

Professor Rays Jiang is a group leader at the College of Public Health at the University of South Florida, where she established the first ever genomics lab. The Jiang Lab uses a systems biology approach coupled with computational biology to study target pathways in malaria pathogens for drug intervention and build a map of the metabolic and signaling pathways that make the human cell – a work that is also highly relevant to study cell homeostasis and malignancy.

We are very thankful to both of them for joining us at the MBW department to share their research!
